Thank you

Thank you for visiting my design blog and portfolio! I am a graphic designer in the United States. I do most of my work with DesignContest (under the name lperwas) but am also able to work with clients one-on-one. This blog allows me to not only share my designs but also my thought processes.

I hope this blog is helpful for those just beginning to work with logo design and DesigntContest.com and those curious about the design contest concept.  I also want this to be helpful to people looking for logos.  Many of these articles provide a way for everyone to learn more about what goes into a logo design.

This blog also showcases my portfolio of logos and some personal art.

Who am I?

I am a recent college graduate currently residing in Pittsburgh, PA.  Unlike most of my fellow designers, I did not study art or design in school.  I graduated the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Neuroscience, BS in Biological Sciences, and BA in Anthropology.  Though my graduate school resume does not portray my design skills, my passion for art and creativity is ever present.

My inspiration

My inspiration for this blog comes from one of my favorite artists, Marco Bucci (check out his blog here).  I love watching his instructional videos where he creates concept art and talks about his process and techniques.  Those videos inspired me to create this blog.  Of course I cannot create a video of a logo creation since it progresses over many days and involves hours of playing with vectors (which is not quite as fun to watch as Marco's digital paintings).  However, my goal with this blog is to create a place to display my designs and to share how I arrive at the finished product.

My mother

My mother has a new role in life: the poor person who listens to me ramble about designs.  On many many occasions I have called her asking for advice and input.  I realized it would be much easier to communicate with her about designs if she could actually see them.  Adding the descriptions and my thought process also allows her, and other readers, to understand the project and the design.
